A Break in the Poconos

The Poconos nestle within the North of Pennsylvania and may well be one of America’s most overlooked beauty spots. Here is a great retreat filled with outdoor activities, such as skiing and all forms of river based activities such as kayaking and boating.

Yet it is also a great area for a more relaxing time. Looking out from one of the mountains here there is a view that is almost unrivalled in the whole of America, the sights stretch out in to the distance as you are treated to a view of greenery and nature in full blossom. This is the close by Delaware Valley in all its glory, and then there is the staggering Lake Wallenpaupauck to fall in love with.

Those wishing for a gentle break up here by the mountains will not be disappointed, you can take it all at your own time in Poconos rentals, taking in the natural beauty, and then relaxing at your own leisure in a luxury property.

There are many great walks to take and this may be essential if you are wishing to take in the great beauty of the Poconos area, this is a great way to interact with these noble landscapes.
Fittingly enough there is also Lake Harmony nearby, a placid pool which quivers with each gust of wind. This is a perfect spot for some lakeside reflection, watching, and listening as the water quakes in front of you.

Though if you are feeling more adventurous you can hire a canoe and head out on these waters for some nautical fun, it is a great refreshing way to experience the elements, and if you are with family it also can be a great bonding exercise.

Then there are some ski slopes perfect for skiing and snowboarding. The Poconos aren’t so famous as a ski resort and this means that the slopes aren’t so crowded and you may have the very mountains to yourself.

Skiing here can be as advanced as you wish, there are slopes to cater to all levels of experience, from beginner to expert, and it also features some nice slopes for children.
Here there is almost seven slopes, and while the area is hardly Aspen in terms of drawing in the glamorous and snow crazy crowds. Yet it is the closest slope area to many states meaning that it consistently pulls in at least a modest crowd, and while you can enjoy a relatively peaceful slope, there is still a good amount of atmosphere.

As a town it is rather like Lake Tahoe, an area designed to cater to tourists, with the residents that live there mainly being those capitalising on the tourist trade. It serves to provide the amenities to those that are passing through, whilst exploring this great wilderness and interacting with all its pastoral glory.
